It’s that time of year again, and I just love it! I have been listening to Christmas music since Thanksgiving, and I just can’t wait for Christmas day to arrive. However it is with that thought in mind that I must admit, I am looking for Christmas. No I haven’t lost it, but I am looking for it. Are you? Here’s what I mean. As I was reading (Luke 2:16-18 NIV) ” (16) So they hurried off and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby, who was lying in the manger. (17) When they had seen him, they spread the word concerning what had been told them about this child, (18) and all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said to them.“
Those Shepherds had heard about CHRISTmas and they didn’t wait for CHRISTmas to come to them, but they went in search of Him. When they found Him, they began to tell everyone about CHRISTmas and they listened eagerly and were amazed at their story. Then it occurred to me that I also need to do the same. I know the message, and am very familiar with the story, but I still need to look for CHRISTmas especially during this time of year or I might miss Him.
I need to see CHRISTmas in the little acts of kindness that people do for my family. I need to remember CHRISTmas in the way I speak to others so that I can tell them of the good news of great joy! And I need to look for CHRISTmas not in the glamour, lights, and bling of the world, but in that humble setting where a baby was born in a manger. How about you? Are you looking for CHRISTmas?
Blessings,
Rick
